Course Objectives :

This programme is available as a masterclass workshop or distance learning programme.  We require a minimum number to run it as a workshop.

 

 The programme is an intense course intended for those who are dedicated to start their own business  or social enterprise and with a desire to learn tools to help them build the right foundation for starting up.

The programme will be delivered by trainers who are all dedicated business owners, business advisors and/or  consultants with expert knowledge and experience in starting a business. 

You as a participant will be learning practical leadership, management and business ideas generation/development skills and your complete commitment to start and finish the programme is a pre-requisite for enrolment.

Contents :

The programme covers all aspects of starting a new business enterprise  with lots of opportunities  for developing your business ideas with the help of the trainers delivering the programme  over the five day period.

Contents cover over  will include :

 Module 1/Day 1

Assessing own suitability for business enterprise whether as a social enterprise or a private business enterprise

Identifying what it takes to start a business enterprise for commercial reason and gaps that  you will need addressing to ensure you complete the journey ahead

Putting together a professional and personal development plan for  growth

Developing your your  soft skills such as effective communication,  time management and assertiveness skills for business

Understanding the legal and regulatory framework of running a business

 

Module 2/Day2

Exploring idea generation and development strategies  

Formulating  and developing your own business ideas using techniques learn't 

Identifying your target market and mapping out their profile for effective planning

Understanding the operating environment of different sectors at the  macro and micro level using business tools such as PEST analysis, Porters Five Forces and more.......

Putting together a business plan for starting up your business enterprise ensuring you are  starting the process with a clear vision and mission

 Module 3/ Day 3

Putting together a business plan for starting your business enterprise

Understanding  financial concepts   for business e.g financial costings and projections, profit and loss accounts, balance sheets and cashflow statements

Module4 /Day 4

Putting together financial forecasts to determine financial needs continue

Sourcing and raising finance for business startup

Understanding lending and investors appraisal criteria

Presenting to lenders or investors with confidence

 Module 5/ Day 5

Introduction to  marketing and selling skills

Putting together your marketing plan to support  your strategies

Introduction to  people and relationship management

Understanding the importance of systems and policies in business

 

This programme  could lead to a level 2 qualification in Business Enterprise with the Institute of Leadership and Management. Participants who would like a formal accredited  qualification should informed us before they start the programme as additional fee will be required as well as additional assessments.

Note- All participants will  also be linked to funders that may provide financial assistance for startup.

Distance learning students will be assigned course materials and  workbooks to complete each module of the course as well as a tutor. Tutor support is available for a duration of six months during which all participants will be expected to have covered each module of the programme. Students who wish to gain ILM qualification are asked to pay a small fee towards the ILM registration.
